Attendance policy

If your student will be absent, please call (925) 682-8000 ext 7900 and leave a message including the following:

  • Your name and relationship to the student
  • Student's name (first and last)
  • Student's teacher
  • Date of absence
  • Reason for absence

You may also email Mrs. Canales this information at canalesf@mdusd.org.

It’s important to contact our attendance hotline within 72 hours of absence, or your student will be marked truant.

Absences for illness/injury, medical appointments, funerals, and religious holidays are excusable. Other reasons for absence will be marked as unexcused.

If your student will be late, please send them to the main office before they report to class. They will receive a tardy notice and be admitted to class from the office.

If you are picking up your student early, please report to the main office to sign out your student and we will send a pass your student to be excused from their class. Please account for the time this will take in your planning.

SAME DAY Period absences can NOT and will NOT be cleared by calling the Attendance Secretary. While we are aware that attendance getting marked (in)correctly is up to the Teacher (or Sub), Students need to get a attendance correction slip from the Attendance office and submit it if they want the absence or tardy cleared.

Please let our office know if you have any questions. Thank you!
