2018 Lewis Howard Latimer Scholarship Application

Academic good standing, African American senior, full-time status in an accredited high school with a declared intention to enroll in a four-year accredited college, two-year community college, or accredited business school with major in computer science or related to Telecommunications industry.




Italian American Federation of the East Bay

Italian American Federation of the East Bay Applicants must be of Italian ancestry. Applications are available at


IMPORTANT: Applications must be completed by the applicant and given to the school principal or authorized faculty advisor, who must send it to the Scholarship Committee at the above address, together with a transcript of grades certifying the scholastic standing, school activity record and character of the candidate. The Celebration of Excellence Scholarship is available for graduating seniors who live in Alameda and Contra Costa counties and who:

  • have a grade point average of 3.30 or above;
  • are involved in co-curricular and community activities;
  • demonstrate good character and conduct;
  • submit an essay describing experiences, person(s) of influence in their life, and long-and short-term goals;
  • plan to enter a four-year college or university.

Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarship- Travis Credit Union

 We encourage all our young members who are graduating high school seniors to apply for our college scholarships. Each applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be bound for a two- or four-year college or university and be a member in good standing of Travis Credit Union. Students who live in our 12-county service region and are not yet members may join the credit union and apply for our scholarship concurrently. Winners will be notified by June 2018 by mail or phone and agree to have their names and photos published in TCU promotional materials. Not valid where prohibited by law. Scholarships will be awarded in June 2018, after acceptance at a college and confirmation of registration. Tri-Counties Bank Endowment Scholarship Fund

The Tri Counties Bank Scholarship program seeks to advance higher education for community-minded students. Tri Counties Bank competitively awards $1,500 scholarships to students attending a 4-year college/university and $1,000 for those attending community college. Awards will be made to the college-bound, economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement and business entrepreneurship, the three pillars of Tri Counties Bank's mission to help to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicity, especially our economically-disadvantaged youth. Bio-Rad Scholarship Program

 Scholarship program assists local high school graduating students who wish to pursue careers in science or engineering. Eligibility requirements are be a graduating, college-bound senior from a high school in the following counties: Solano, Alameda, Contra Costa County. GPA 2.5 or higher. Have already been accepted to a 2 or 4-year college at the time scholarships are awarded in April of each year. Go to website for application.

Bay Alarm Scholarship

To be eligible for a scholarship award, you must be involved in a community service effort/volunteer opportunity where you work with the elderly OR participate in caregiving duties for an elderly relative living in your home. Scholarships will be awarded based on an essay contest. You must provide a photo of yourself and one of the seniors mentioned in your essay. See Website listed for more details.



American Culinary Federation Scholarships

The American Culinary Federation Education Foundation, with the support of the American Academy of Chefs (AAC), offers educational scholarships to high school students, college students, apprentices and professional chefs looking to further their education.

Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation Scholarship

Deadline 3/31

To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant is required to:

  • Be a freshman in the 2018-2019 academic year and anticipate enrolling at a U.S. accredited college/university in the 2018-2019 academic year.
  • Have a cumulative, un-weighted grade point average between 3.5 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent). Students not on a 4.0 grading scale must convert their GPA to a 4.0 scale before submitting an application to the Foundation.
  • Have a minimum SAT score of 1200 (out of 1600) or 1800 (out of 2400) or a minimum ACT score of 25. However, if you did not take the SAT or the ACT because the school you will be attending in the fall of 2018 does not require such test scores, please so indicate in the application form. The Foundation will verify this with the school prior to any award.
  • Have at least two reference letters, one of which must be from a current or former teacher in an academic subject.
  • Submit an essay as further described in this application.
