Fall Scholarships

The Gates Scholarship

Deadline 9/18

The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective, full scholarship for exceptional, Pell-eligible, minority, high school seniors. Starting in 2018, the scholarship will be awarded to 300 top student leaders each year with the intent of promoting their academic excellence through college graduation, and providing them the opportunity to reach their full potential. Scholars will receive funding for the full cost of attendance* that is not already covered by other financial aid and the expected family contribution, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To apply, students must be:

  • A high school senior
  • From at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
  • Pell-eligible
  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident
  • In good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

In order to be eligible to apply to the National College Match in the fall of 2018, applicants must graduate from high school during or before the summer of 2019 and plan to enroll as a freshman in college in the fall of 2019.

The QuestBridge National College Match is open to all:

  • U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents or
  • Students, regardless of citizenship, currently attending high school in the United States.

Additional Citizenship Requirements

Important considerations for students who are not U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents, but are attending high school in the United States: Only some of our colleges will consider non-U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents for admission and full scholarships through the College Match

Horatio Algier Scholarship

7 - $22,000 National Scholarships awarded to students in California, 38- $7,000 State Scholarships awarded to students in Northern California Be enrolled full time as a high school senior graduating in 2019 with plans to enter college following graduation. Must exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit or private institution. Demonstrate financial need and be involved in co-curricular and community service activities. Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and be a US citizen.

Good Tidings Community Service Scholarship

The Good Tidings Foundation is a benefit charity that shares the spirit of giving with youth from communities of need in the Bay Area to empower them to reach their dreams. We feel that every girl and boy deserves to have the means to achieve their dreams regardless of financial status, ethnic background, religion, gender, or region of living. We created this scholarship award in 1999 for High School Seniors who recognize the benefits of serving their community.
